A cool white and rustic retreat on Mykonos

With rain and more rain in Sweden and England this summer I think it's time to pack the bags and head to Mykonos, Greece (dreaming of course).  This peaceful, rustic holiday home decorated using cool white and local raw materials could just about be the perfect retreat. Oh so beautiful, thank you 79 ideas for the tip!

Back to planet earth, and London. On Monday night I went to the launch party of The Tanks at Tate Modern. I'm still recovering from the great party! The Tanks open to the public today with an exciting art in action summer programme, although just experiencing the awesome industrial-concrete chambers is worth a visit in itself!

Have a fab week and see you Friday!

A Swedish summer home on Gotland

Morning! Me in a very wet London calling! Looking on the sunny side (te he) take a look at this beautiful home on Gotland, Sweden (check out other wonderful spaces on Gotland here). You may well have seen this oh so cool white space, photographed by Amelia, the blogger behind A Beautiful Living before with it's wood panelled walls, white floors, industrial and mid century scandinavian touches but it's always worth another look, especially if you're in need of summer cottage inspiration!

Despite the driving rain I've had such a great weekend in the Big Smoke. For anyone visiting London  you must visit the very cool new bar/eatery Evans & Peel Detective Agency in Earls Court.  Make sure you reserve a table well in advance though as it gets very booked up and it's soooo worth a visit!

Have a lovely start to the week and see you Wednesday!

The Apartment. Copenhagen

Hello and happy Friday!! Especially happy for me as I'm still on my holidays - Yaaaay! Even still, I just had to pop into the blog world to show you this absolutely stunning concept space called 'The Apartment' in Christianshavn, a beautiful, central district of Copenhagen. The Apartment has been lovingly restored by Tina Seidenfaden Busck and Pernille Hornhaver and represents a 'new universe of design objects, furniture, antiques and art'.

' We hope that The Apartment will become more interesting as time passes. That we establish a place for beautiful design and art that surprises each and every visitor - somewhere people come back to again and again for inspiration for exciting design' - Tina & Pernille, The Apartment.

The Apartment with permission.
If you find yourself in or around Copenhagen why not stop by and see this wonderful concept apartment? I know I will! For more information about the concept, art and furniture featured in these images and how to visit check out The Apartment website here.

Have a lovely weekend!

Sail away in Scandinavia!

Ahoy there! Just back from a wonderful sailing trip with my man and two little girls around the Skaelland coast (home to Copenhagen) in Denmark. I wish these pics were of me on my boat, but admittedly I look, shall we say, a little more wind swept! But we did have beautiful sunshine, do have a lovely boat and although the Danish coast isn't mountainous like this, it is very pretty, so I feel very lucky all the same!

Picture bottom right: Matt Albiani. All other pictures: Pinterest (sorry for the poor crediting, if anyone can help me with the source I'd be really happy!)

My favourite stop of all was a little island called Nyord, it was so idyllic with old wooden beamed beach cottages and honesty shops on every corner selling everything from locally grown vegetables, rhubarb jam to mustard from the nearby mill and locally produced shampoo and conditioner.

If you fancy sailing the beautiful Swedish South coast and the Danish East coast give me a shout as we charter our yacht, and would of course give a very favourable rate as well as lots of itinerary tips to all my wonderful blog readers, simply because I'd love you to explore this area by boat too!

A touch of Nordic, pattern and industrial

I found this wonderful apartment via one of my favourite blogs La Maison D'Anna G. It has been created by Linda Bergroth who is a Helsinki and Paris based designer. You can really see the Nordic influence in the outcome.

I absolutely LOVE the bathroom in the last picture; the mix of industrial lights, the mid-century dresser and geometric tiled floor is totally fab!

A weekend retreat in South Africa

Since it's the week of all white holiday homes in beautiful locations, I had to feature this beautiful weekend retreat of architect Minky Lidchi which I found via the wonderful blog 79 ideas. I visited South Africa for the first time last autumn and already can't wait to find an opportunity to go back.

If there's one thing that truly stands out to me it's the beautiful walls. I long to have textured walls like this. I also love the sculptures, very beautiful! What do you reckon?

A white home by Remy Meijers

The Dutch interior architect Remy Meijers compares a good interior as a 'finished jigsaw puzzle'.  This 1930's villa in Bussum is one of Remy's projects and is made up of an original and new construction which are connected by a glass corridoor. The huge windows and sliding doors allow natural light to flood in and bounce of the perfectly formed white walls. Soft furnishings have been added to complete the look.

What do you think? Could you make this your home? I would have to add a few brightly coloured cushions, accessories and chairs and then mess it up a little and then yes, absolutely, no problem at all! The bones are simply perfect.

Have a lovely day!
